Nash-ing the Animals
WritingFix has a fun lesson–called “Nash-ing the Animals“–that was inspired by the poetry of Ogden Nash.

I taught a workshop for teachers last week, and I had them all write to the on-line Ogden Nash prompt. Here are five of my favorites that the adult/teacher writers created:
LLamas
I LLove LLeggy LLamas
LLounging LLazily in the BBahamas
Away from all that LLama DDrama.
Aardvark
With the advantage of such a long snout
One would think the aardvark would eat something much more stout.
The Dingo
“Would you know a dingo if you saw one?” he said.
The condescending lady, she said, “Maybe.”
So I replied with a regretful tone,
“The dingo ate your baby.”
The Dung Beetle
There are poems written about tygers.
Of lambs songs have been sung,
But nary a words has been written
About a beetle who plays with dung.
Ferret
If I had a fur coat,
I’d probably wear it
Unless it came from
My neighbor’s ferret.
